Grants
ESRA Research Cooperation Programme
ESRA members and their institutions worldwide are encouraged to apply. Applicants and chairman of the departments applying should be ESRA members and should be established centres of excellence for regional anaesthesia and pain management
Applications could be forwarded at any time of the year to the ESRA bureau.
Decisions on the grant will usually be made by the board twice a year for applications received before February 1st, and for applications received before August 1st. The decision will be based on the following aspects:
- do the institution share a specific dedication regarding their research project?
- are the aims and topics of the cooperation programme relevant for the development of regional anaesthesia and pain management?
- what is the quality of prior publications and former grants received by the applying institutions?
Grants will be given to institutions or work forces chaired by ESRA members recognized as specialised centre of excellence for regional anaesthesia / pain management. The application has to be forwarded in a common application form originating from both (or all) cooperation partners. The proposed research cooperation projects are preferentially performed in Europe. Priority, will be given to those cooperating institutions who have already done considerable research on regional anaesthesia or pain management, have plans not only for a researcher visiting another institution but to exchange and visits in both directions (cooperation), have contributed significantly to ESRA annual congresses / activities and published their results in peer reviewed international journals.
The grants are given to encourage cooperative research programmes and exchange/visits of researchers. The grant should be used for direct costs such as equipment, materials, travel and accommodation.
Grants consist of a fixed 1000€ (per researcher) expenses reimbursement paid by bank transfer after acceptance of the application to cover travel costs of the researcher of institution (“A”) who is going to visit the cooperating institution (“B”) plus a 1000€ reimbursement for cost of living (including accommodation, insurance etc.) for 1 month at that site.
A second share of 1000€ reimbursement will be transferred after a common cooperative report of the project from both, the visitor (“A”) and the hosting institution (“B”) to the ESRA bureau.
Since a real exchange is encouraged, a visit vice versa will be sponsored in the alternate direction (visiting researcher of institution “B” being hosted by institution “A”)
In total, a maximum 6000€ will be reimbursed (3000€ per institution/visiting researcher).
The application should include:
- Responsible research fellow(s) (CV)
- ESRA membership number
- Head of the program commitment (chair of department, faculty) (CV + ESRA membership number of both institutions)
- Research Plan, Specific project
- List of prior publications
- List of ESRA activities (annual congresses etc.)
After pre-selection by the grants subcommittee the ESRA board will decide on a majority vote basis taking into consideration at least two referees votes on the research application.
